Just a small chat with my brother

My brother had finished his final paper in Ngee Ann Polytechnic, one of the 5 polytechnic in Singapore. He is in high spirit when he came back home and I can see that he had done quite well in his examination, I guess lol.

He study Biomedical Science and he wanted to be a doctor in the future. But after talking to him about being a doctor, I found out that he intend to go overseas to study as it is difficult for him to continue his degree studies in Medicine in local university as the cut off point is high and usually those "high end courses" like Law and Medicine, are probably given to 'A' level student with excellent results, but there are local polytechnic students get accepted in those course too, but it's quite rare.

I can see that my brother is passion about being a doctor. He already planned out his route and plan to go to Australia, Melbourne University to purse his studies after serving his National Service.

I hope he can be a great doctor and at least he know what he is pursuing, unlike me, I still haven't really decide which occupation that I am going to become after I graduate from NUS. Although I have 4 years for me to decide but 4 years say long also not long, say short also not short. But when the time comes, it's all about my decision and the choice, I had to make when I graduate no matter what.

Rookies' Diary / 新兵日記

《新兵日記》節目標誌

A few months ago, I started watching this Taiwan drama called 'Rookies' Dairy (新兵日記 / Xin Bing Ri Ji). This drama shows about Taiwan BMT which lasted for 36 days where new recruits go for their Basic Military Training. During the 36 days of training in BMT, Second Lieutenant Sun An Bang is going to transform a group of rookies from oddball civilians to disciplined soldiers.

This drama is super funny because you can find all sorts of funny recruits acting blur or acting funny during the training. I laugh until my stomach pain through out the series (the series is not completed yet though).

Not only funny as I mentioned but this drama also shows how people's feeling changed in the process of their training in BMT. At first those recruits, Corporals and Sergeants do not really like/appreciate how Second Lieutenant Sun An Bang conduct his training for the recruits as he was strict and go against the rule book of training recruits.

But as the times goes by, Second Lieutenant Sun An Bang passion saw by the recruits, Corporals and Sergeants. Together, the recruits even help Second Lieutenant Sun An Bang out when he is in trouble due to some conflict with gangsters due to money lending problem caused by his father.

After the incident, the captain decided to used his traditional method to train up all these recruits before they passed out from BMT.

Are all the recruits able to pass their physical test in BMT? We shall find out in the final episode of Rookies' Diary.

Woodland Point

Woodlands Point

Today as usual, I went for my 5km run in the evening. But something special is that I change the route a little so that I can help my brother buy his dinner at Woodland Point, a place where I used to hang out at during my secondary school days with my classmates.

I remember that place was a place where we hang out almost everyday after school to play lan and Yu-Gi-Oh card game. That's the place we close up our friendship bond with other student in our school as we always hang out at that place to play game. That's the place where I would never ever forget in my life.

Today I went back to that place again, I help my brother to buy his dinner after I completed my 5km run. I took a walk around that place and to my surprise, the place hasn't changed much even though I didn't went there for quite a few years.

The McDonald still there, the Lan shop still there and some random shop still there but the Kopitiam at the second floor has moved away and is now currently empty.

I still remember that we always hang out at the McDonald second floor to play our card games, and in order not to get kick out by the McDonald staff, we bought a drink just for the sake to stay at that place to play our card game. Come to think of it, it's quite funny actually lol...

Then after playing card game, we will go straight down to the Lan shop and play the most popular game during that time which is, counter-strike. The price is $2 - $2.50 per hour if I remember correctly.

Think I will find someday, someday to get my secondary school friends to hang out there again... Well hope I can find some time, as soon as possible :)
